Let’s imagine being able to go to the swimming pool without the necessity for overcoming a series of obstacles.

Imagine that your local swimming pool thought about you and put a wheelchair at your disposal in order to allow you to move freely in the swimming pool, without the need to use and damage your town wheelchair…

 Vipamat took into account this problem. We always tackle the question of what is the best way to have access to water activities. For example: before reaching the pool, how to reach the changing room, the shower? How to cross the wet area (where even the shoes of able-bodied people are forbidden) when you are in a wheelchair? 

The wheelchair Hippocampe which is built to resist water, can be borrowed from the changing room and accompany you under the shower. It is easy to handle. Equipped with a front directional wheel, it paces up and down the lane of the swimming pool and goes everywhere. With its seat made from hydrophobe foam (closed cells), it does not fear water and it provides you with optimum comfort.

To have access to the pool, three solutions are possible: either you get off by the slope access then you heave yourself up out of the wheelchair which floats, or you stop the Hippocampe swimming pool (with the help of the brakes), you transfer yourself to the ground near to the water then enter the pool or with the help of a third-person, get off the pool stairs to reach the water.

Suitable for persons of all ages, skills, sizes, the Hippocampe weighs only 29 pounds (13kg). The person sits only 13.8 inches (35cm) off the ground which provides better stability.

It can be used on your own with the rear tires or with another person thanks to the push bar of the backrest.

The chair is rust proof as the wheelchair has taken the technology of the nautical and cycling industry so it is made of stainless steel, aluminium and plastic.

The Hippocampe is made of:

• A Directional front wheel

• A foot-rest in fibre-glass covered with closed cells foam to prevent injury to the ski

• The chassis is made of  anodised aluminium tubes covered with a blue casing to prevent,heating from the sun and prevent burns to the ski

• The seat is made of  a closed cells fabric (it does not absorb water) with a central hole to evacuate water

One Year Limited Manufacturers Warranty on Parts from the date of purchase.

That covers the replacement of defective parts.

The warranty doesn′t cover improper use of the chair and neither the wear and tear due to use.
