Mobility Express at Abilities Expo: Busy, Enthusiastic, and Electric

This year, Mobility Express attended the first ever Abilities Expo Orlando. We brought a wheelchair accessible Toyota Sienna with a BraunAbility Xi conversion, a table full of information, and a team ready to answer every question that came our way.

The room was loud in the best way. Families, caregivers, and people living with disabilities came from across Florida and the Southeast. Many had one question in common: what options are actually out there for me?

Why we went

Abilities Expo brings the disability community together under one roof. For a family owned dealership that has been helping people get moving since 1985, it was the right place to be.

We didn’t come to hand out brochures and leave. We came to talk, listen, and help people understand what accessible transportation can look like for their lives.

The van that stopped people in their tracks

Our Sienna was parked right off Aisle 1000 with the ramp down and the doors open, and visitors walked right up. Guests rolled up the ramp, sat inside, and got a feel for the space and how it all works. There is no better way to answer questions about entry, comfort, and room than letting someone experience it themselves.

Real conversations, real answers

The best moments weren’t scripted. Mike Pisano, our Rehab Seating Specialist and Wheelchair Van Specialist, as well as Daniel Rached, Raymond Kern, and Dominic Rached, spent the event on the floor with guests, walking them through ramp types, entry options, and what to look for in a wheelchair accessible vehicle. Even the Owner/CEO of Mobility Express, Fares Rached, was present on the expo floor, interacting and guiding visitors as they came. Every person had a different situation, and every answer was tailored to the individual.

Fares Rached, CEO and Owner of Mobility Express, said it best: “I really enjoyed meeting people from around Florida and the Southeast, and being able to help guide them with their mobility questions.”

That is the heart of why we do this. Guiding people through a big decision is the job.

On the table are brochures for Mobility Express, a binder with pages for wheelchair accessible vehicles in Mobility Express' inventory for guests to browse, as well as some candy and fruit for the guests, and a Mobility Express banner draped over the front of the table (white banner with black and orange text).

Exposure for the whole community

Our Wheelchair Van and Mobility Specialist, Raymond Kern, saw the value of the event from the floor. “The expo presented great exposure for various options for the disability community,” he said.

He’s right. Many visitors told us they didn’t know how many choices exist until they saw them in person. Putting those options in front of people, in one place, makes a real difference.

Three words from the team

We asked our team to sum up the Expo in three words.

Fares: Busy. Enthusiastic. Exciting.

Raymond: It was electric!

We couldn’t agree more.
